We have partnered up with non-profit Sanctity of Hope to accept tokens given to the homeless to be redeemed for food at ALL KOi truck locations. These tokens are given out to homeless people in Portland to be used in lieu of cash for all sorts of products and services at participating businesses. Here’s an article about us and Whiffies as the first food carts to participate! At KOi Fusion, we will be accepting 1 token for 1 TACO ($2 value), and 4 tokens for 1 BURRITO ($7 value). We encourage all of our customers, fans, and anyone out there to support this cause by either handing out these tokens to the homeless instead of cash, as well as purchasing tokens to then be distributed out by the organization. There are many times we all want to help out, lend a hand or give … but we turn the other way. This is a good start. SANCTITY OF HOPE
A 501c3 charity offering tokens to local communities to give to the homeless instead of cash. Tokens can be used at local businesses and vending machines for food, clothing, laundry services, survival gear, and bicycle parts.

The Problem
Many people do not give to the homeless because of concerns over ultimate use – the ultimate use of their gift by the recipient. This adversely affects both the homeless and those wishing to help them.

Our Purpose

Helping communities take care of the most basic needs of its least fortunate members thereby offering HOPE for a better life.

Helping communities by reducing their concerns over ultimate use thereby letting them help their less fortunate members.

We are constantly brainstorming new ways to keep our customers engaged. Sometimes we get so crazy with our ideas that we overlook the essentials … besides hip-hop parties and renegade KOi stops, we would also like to give back to our most loyal customers – and that’s simply MORE KOI!

Coming soon (hopefully in a week) to all locations will be frequent eater cards! A basic stamp system where we’ll be giving back to you for supporting us. Just a handful of times for lunch, a few late night stops and you’ve got yourself another free burrito!!!! Or tacos … or quesadilla … or sliders!!!!

In addition, we’ve finally set up an e-mail subscription to better let you know of upcoming events we’re involved in and specials or discounts we’re offering. Especially in the summer time, it gets k’razy busy at KOi HQ! We’ll shoot you a short e-mail every now and again to let you know what’s up! And there may be an itty bitty surprise in it for you!!!

And between you and I, we gots some new menu items (and a new location) in the werkz!!!!

So whatcha waiting for? Look to the right of this page and enter in your e-mail addy. Then head on over to one of our trucks or KOiosk to check out the frequent eater card!

A big shout out to everyone who braved the gray weather and crowds to check us out at the Seattle Mobile Chowdown III last week. It was off the hook fun.

The madness of crowds, some people waited in line over 2 hours to get a taste of the Koifusion! But we know it was worth it because some people ate, turned around, and waited in line again for another dose. We love you all, man.

Seattle’s got a much smaller cart scene than Portland and most of their trucks are mobile (we think it’s the laws there or something), but it was cool to see all their different carts and eat their food. Some people were billing the event as a Seattle vs. PDX thing, but we think that’s way off the mark. I mean, Portland has over 400 carts and Seattle has well, about 1/10th of that. Hmmm, maybe we should invite the Seattle carts down to PDX next time to show everyone how AWESOME the PDX cart scene is?

Anyway, fun was had by all, it was a great road trip. We met some cool people and we hope to go back next year. In the meantime Seattlites, if you find yourselves down in our ‘hood, swing by. As always you can find us on twitter @koifusionpdx or check us out at our new restaurant/bar Koifusion@1 located at 1300 NW Lovejoy in Portland’s Pearl District.
